Tea for the Winter

Tea for the Winter

With daylight savings time behind us, the shorter, darker days are signaling the arrival of winter. All of us, even those of us living in sunnier climates, can provide our bodies with some extra care to keep healthy during the changing seasons. Here are four teas we recommend to support your well-being this winter:

  1. Ripe Pu-erh tea

Ripe Pu-erh tea will help your body’s digestion and nurture and improve the stomach’s fortitude. With the holidays approaching and higher amounts of meat consumption, the various vitamins, minerals and protein this tea possesses can bring a more balanced diet and counter a decrease in eating vegetables.

In particular, mellow ripe Pu-erh can reduce the risk of high blood pressure and lower cholesterol. As the tea water enters the stomach, it can also create a layer of protection and aid your body in killing harmful bacteria.

  1. Black Tea

Black tea is a perfect match for this season as its rich proteins and antioxidants make our body stronger and can help us fight off a cold. You can drink black tea alone or combine it with milk, honey, rose, chrysanthemum or orange peel for an added boost and support to your body, and in particular to the lungs.

  1. Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is semi fermented tea. Its flavor profile shares both the green tea’s freshness and natural floral scent and the mellowness of black tea. As it is extremely mild in temperament, it will help adapt the body to any environment. During the winter time, the air inside our homes and offices is usually dry, leading us to dehydrate faster. A brew of oolong tea is great to sip and aid our body during this time.

  1. Aged tea: Pu-erh tea, white tea and dark tea

An aged tea’s temper is mild and has a powerful vitality. Therefore, when you drink aged tea, drink it in generous amounts, and let the tea’s probiotics aid in releasing toxins from your body.

Your body will thank you for drinking tea regularly this winter because as they say, “A cup of tea makes everything better.”
