Young Spring Buds

After the last autumn harvest, most tea plants are dormant until spring. The first buds that emerge before the first rain of spring are the leaves that will eventually become Early Spring Harvest tea. This crop is generally considered the best harvest of the year, and the Yunnan Pu-erh tea brick made from these leaves is highly sought after.

The Joy of Brewing

To brew this exquisite Yunnan Pu-erh tea brick, first use a Pu-erh Pick to remove 3-5 grams of tea for every 6 ounces of water. Bring your water to a boil and then let it cool to 185° F. Rinse your tea leaves for several seconds to enhance the flavor before your first infusion.

The first infusion of the leaves should last about 10 seconds. When you’re ready to enjoy your second cup, brew the leaves for 5 seconds. For each time you brew the leaves afterwards, increase your infusion time by 5 seconds.
